Overview of Eastern Kentucky University
Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), founded in 1906, offers well over 150 degree programs for both undergraduates and graduates. The University's main 725-acre campus is located in Richmond, Kentucky, and several branch campuses can be found throughout the state. EKU is comprised of five distinct colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business and Technology, Health Sciences, Education, and Justice & Safety. One of the departments within the College of Justice & Safety is the Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies Department, which offers online degree programs targeted for adult learners who require flexibility and convenience in the way courses are delivered.

Students in the corrections and juvenile justice programs come from diverse backgrounds from across the state and the nation. Many of them are presently employed in the field and are seeking advancement within their professions. Others are preparing for initial entry into a career and/or for further studies. EKU itself presently serves more than 16,000 students.
Eastern Kentucky University Student Life
EKU's online students can take advantage of the efforts of the University's Office of Distance Education & Multimedia Services, whose goal is to create a sense of community in the delivery of online services to students. The Office provides instructional design, media design and technical assistance to support the development of the online programs. The College of Justice & Safety operates the J & S Student Network, where students can log in and obtain a list of College Alumni who have agreed to serve as mentors.
