Eastern New Mexico University, also referred to as ENMU or Eastern, has its main campus in Portales, Roosevelt County, New Mexico. This university was legislated in the year 1927 and opened in 1934. There are two branches of ENMU offering degrees to students at Roswell and Ruidoso. The main campus of the university covers more than 400 acres and enrolls more than 4,000 students on an annual basis. ENMU has a school and 4 colleges under it:

  • College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Graduate School

The male athletic teams of the university are named the Greyhounds and the female teams are called the Zias. The male students participate in sports such as basketball, football, soccer, rodeo and cross country, while the female students play sports like softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer and rodeo.
