Eckerd College is a private, founded in 1958, is a four-year, liberal arts college located in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. The campus is spread across an area of 188 acres. Eckerd College awards bachelor’s degrees in diverse areas of study which include chemistry, sociology, literature, and creative writing.
Eckerd College’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. The college is a member of the Sunshine State Conference (NCAA Division II). They participate in sports like baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis, sailing, soccer, softball, and other sports. The sports teams of the college are nicknamed as the Tritons. Some of the notable alumni of the college are Dorothy Allison, writer; Bill Evers, bench coach of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays; and Steve Balboni, former New York Yankees.
