Evangel University, often referred to as Evangel or abbreviated as EU, is a private, liberal arts university. It is located in Springfield, Missouri, United States, and was founded in 1955, as the Evangel College. On June 8, 1998, the college was granted university status, along with the present name. The university campus spreads across an area of approximately 80 acres of land. Students of Evangel University are offered bachelor's and master's degrees in various streams, including social work, business, humanities, social sciences, theology, physical education, etc.

The official mascot of the sports teams of Evangel University is the Crusader. The students from the university participate in intercollegiate football, basketball,. cross country, track & field, golf, volleyball, baseball and softball. Students of EU are also encouraged in various intramural sports, such as, powder-puff football, volleyball, flag football, soccer and basketball.

Evangel University Selectivity

Evangel University is selective and does not offer open admission. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 480. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 440 and 580. Many applicants are from out of state, an indication of the quality or special character of the school.

Faculty

The school maintains a faculty/student ratio (full-time) which is better than most colleges. Evangel University has a tenure system for senior faculty.
