Fairleigh Dickinson University, also known as FDU, is a two-year, private university with two main campuses in Madison/Florham Park and Teaneck/Hackensack, New Jersey, United States. It is the largest private university in New Jersey. FDU was originally established in 1942 as Fairleigh Dickinson College. The university offers graduate, undergraduate, and doctoral degrees in several areas of study.

FDU’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. The Metropolitan Campus competes in the NCAA Division I, and the Florham campus competes in Division III. The athletes participate in basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball. Their sports teams are nicknamed the Knights.
