Fitchburg State College is a four-year, public institution located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. It was established as the State Normal School in 1894 by the Massachusetts state legislature. Fitchburg State enrolls more than 3,500 undergraduate and 1,650 graduate students annually. The college offers postgraduate certificates, bachelors degrees and masters degrees in more than 25 areas of study. The main campus is spread across an area of over 70 acres.
Fitchburg State recognizes more than 60 student clubs and organizations. 'The Point' is the student-run newspaper, and WXPL is the student-run radio station. Its official mascot is the Falcon.
