American Institute is a for-profit educational system which focuses on providing career training in a number of different areas. The American Institute was founded as the Hartford Secretarial School in 1924. The school has also been known as the Fox Institute of Business until it underwent its current name change. American Institute has four campuses located across the states of Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida. The schools offer career training programs in business and technology, health care, and wellness and beauty.
The Margate campus of American Institute is accredited by The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). All other American Institute campuses are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
Faculty at the American Institute possess real-world experience that serves them well in the classroom. Instructors design their courses around current and predicted future industry trends, enabling students to learn the innovative skills that employers desire. The school constantly seeks to reflect the demands of the job market, adding new programs when applicable to give students an advantage when entering the job market.
Enrolled students at the American Institute will be expected to commute to their chosen campus for classes, as AI does not provide traditional on-campus dormitories. Students have the option to choose either a traditional campus-based approach or they can enroll in the distance learning program. It is important for distance learners to note that the program is a hybrid program, meaning that some of their coursework -- particularly lab work -- will need to be completed at one of American Institute's campus locations. The FastTrack accelerated option is available for some programs.
