Georgia Southwestern State University, also known as GSW, is a public university located in Americus, Georgia, United States. It was established in the year 1906. The campus of GSW consists of more than 30 buildings which spread across an area of 250 acres. The international student body comprises of students representing over 30 countries worldwide. The university offers a number of graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificates in various fields of study. GSW is organized into the following schools:

  • School of Computer & Information Sciences
  • School of Education
  • School of Nursing

GSW’s athletics department fields various men's and women's sports teams. They compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II and the Peach Belt Conference. They are nicknamed the Hurricanes, and they participate in basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, and softball, among other sports.
