Haskell Indian Nations University, located in Lawrence, Kansas, was established as the United States Indian Industrial Training School in 1884. In 1887, the school was renamed the Haskell Institute in honor of Dudley Haskell. It became Haskell Indian Junior College in 1970, and was finally given its current name in 1993.
