Haskell Indian Nations University, located in Lawrence, Kansas, was established as the United States Indian Industrial Training School in 1884. In 1887, the school was renamed the Haskell Institute in honor of Dudley Haskell. It became Haskell Indian Junior College in 1970, and was finally given its current name in 1993.

Haskell Indian Nations University awards Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Science degrees. A number of cooperative programs of study are also available. Its academic divisions are:

  • College of Arts and Science
  • School of Business
  • School of Education

The university is a member of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference in the NAIA. The teams are nicknamed the Fighting Indians, and participate in basketball, cross country, football, track, golf, softball, and volleyball.
