Haywood Community College, also referred to as HCC, was founded in 1965. It was then known as the Haywood Industrial Education Center. Situated in Clyde, North Carolina, the college's recent enrollments have been more than 2,000 students every year. The campus of the institute is spread across 83 acres of land.

Haywood Community College offers a large number of associate’s degrees in arts, general education, science, and applied science, as well as diplomas and certificate programs. Students can also enroll in the college’s continuing education division.

The college sponsors an intercollegiate lumberjack team. The mascot for the college is called Wolves. Among the on-campus student clubs and organizations are Criminal Justice Club, Forestry Club, Medical Assisting Club, National Vocational Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, and Student Builders Trade Association.
