Hofstra University, a nonsectarian, co-ed private university, occupies more than 240 acres of land and was established in 1935. The university comprises nearly 130 buildings and has more than 1,000 faculty members.
Hofstra University organizes more than 400 cultural events every year. The university serves over 10,000 students and offers over 150 graduate and 140 undergraduate programs.
The official athletics teams of Hofstra are nicknamed The Pride. The university presently fields men’s and women’s teams in soccer, basketball, hockey, golf and volleyball. Founded in 1935, Hofstra is a private coeducational university sitting on a beautiful 240-acre campus in Hempstead, Long Island, only 25 miles east of New York City. Hofstra Online offers a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science degree which can be completed in as little as 18 months. The program offers students career-oriented coursework with a co-emphasis on theory and practice which prepares them for careers on the cutting edge of technology. The curriculum provides a solid foundation and training for practicing computational scientists, computer specialists or software engineers in business, industry or government. Applications for admission to the program are accepted continuously throughout the year. There are six starts annually. Hofstra University Online Student Life
The online student experience substitutes a computer for the classroom. All course lectures will be available online and can be replayed as often as desired. All homework, class work, writing assignments and exams are completed and submitted online. A detailed course syllabus is provided to every student. One of the tremendous benefits offered by the online program is the unprecedented level of support available to all students. Students who run into difficulty can contact their course facilitator, program manager and/or other students in the program for help and support.
