Overview of Hypnosis Motivation Institute
The Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) is a non-profit, nationally accredited college and clinic of hypnotherapy located in Southern California. Students learn to be skilled Certified Hypnotists, helping individuals with hundreds of issues such as weight loss, sports performance, grief, and stress. HMI was founded in 1968 by Dr. John Kappas, who defined the profession of hypnotherapy.
HMI is home to over 50 Certified Hypnotherapists, and estimates that is has provided more than 250,000 hours of services over the past 40 years. The school offers extensive training and internship programs through the clinic, providing students with essential hands-on experience. The Hypnosis Motivation Institute was the nation's first hypnotherapy training institution to become nationally accredited. Currently, the school is accredited and approved by several agencies, including the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Hypnosis Motivation Institute Selectivity
HMI does not offer open admissions, and requires students to be 18 years or older, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. All students must successfully complete a personal interview with an Admissions Representative, and pass the CPAT, the Career Programs Assessment Test. HMI will also administer a Temperament Analysis Profile to each applicant, with a requirement that the results fall within an acceptable range.
Hypnosis Motivation Institute Faculty Quality
Every faculty member at HMI is exceptionally qualified and active in the private practice of hypnotherapy. Faculty also have different areas of expertise within the field of hypnotherapy.

The majority of HMI's students attend school full-time. Students come from diverse backgrounds, with women making up the majority of students.
Hypnosis Motivation Institute Student Life
Hypnosis Motivation Institute is a commuter school located in Tarzana, California. For those students enrolled in the resident program, students are given the opportunity to work with actual clients during a supervised clinical internship at on-site clinical facilities. The school also has a Student Center to assist students.
