Overview of Independence University
Founded in 1978, Independence University (IU) is a distance-learning institute headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. Formerly known as California College for Health Sciences, IU offers over 20 online graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs in health care, education and business fields. IU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council.

Areas of Study
IU offers degree programs in a variety of education, business, and health care fields. These include a total of four Associate of Science, four Bachelor of Science, two MBA, and nine Master of Science programs. The University also offers six certificate programs. Students work at their own pace but it normally takes between two and four years to earn a degree.
Independence University Admissions
Enrollment is started by contacting the University online or via a toll-free phone number to speak with an Enrollment Advisor. Prerequisites vary by degree program being pursued. There are no prerequisites required for certificate programs.

IU's faculty members are experts in their chosen fields. Instructors bring a diversity of knowledge and wide range of expertise to the University and are always available to answer questions and eager to help students through their course of study.

Independence University Student Life
The student experience is that of a member of an online community of students and educators. Communication with professors and with fellow students throughout the nation and the world is largely accomplished via email and electronic chat.
