Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a public university located in the borough of Indiana, Pennsylvania. It is the largest university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PaSSHE) and is the fifth largest in the commonwealth. IUP's main campus is a mix of old and new red brick structures. It also boasts of a planetarium.
IUP offers more than 100 undergraduate degree programs and over 40 graduate degree programs through the following colleges/schools:
IUP's sports teams are nicknamed the Crimson Hawks. They compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) of NCAA Division II. The IUP athletic department sponsors more than 15 varsity sports.

The school is known for its programs in music and security and law enforcement.
Admission at IUP is selective, not open to all who apply. Three quarters of students in 2007-2008 had SAT verbal scores of at least 430. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 430 and 540.
IUP has a tenure system for senior faculty. The full-time faculty at the school is well-paid, which often goes with faculty quality.
