Overview of Clemens College
Clemens College, formerly known as the International College of Hospitality Management, is a private, coeducational, two-year college located in Suffield, Connecticut. Founded in 1992 as the Swiss Hospitality Institute, the institution was approved two years later to confer collegiate programs at the associate degree level, and was at that time renamed the International College of Hospitality Management, César Ritz. In 2007, the name was changed to Clemens College to honor Samuel Clemens (a.k.a. Mark Twain), one of Connecticut’s best loved literary figures. Clemens College offers accelerated Associate of Science Degrees in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts Management.

Clemens College Admissions
Clemens College accepts students for enrollment at the start of each of the four academic terms. The four terms begin in August, November, February, and April, respectively. As applications for admission are reviewed and processed continuously throughout the year, applicants should submit materials as early as possible. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to seek an interview with an admissions representative either on campus or by telephone. Admission requirements include a completed and signed application form, proof of HS graduation or GED, two letters of reference, a $40 non-refundable application fee, and (for international students) proof of English competency.
Clemens College Faculty Quality
Clemens College's faculty members are hired for their love of teaching in addition to their professional and academic credentials. All classes are taught by qualified faculty members, not by teaching assistants or graduate students. Class sizes are small, and every student has an academic advisor, typically a faculty member, to ensure that they stay on track toward graduating on time.
Clemens College Student Body
The College has a diverse student body. There are roughly equal numbers of men and women enrolled. Most students are recent high-school graduates, but approximately 10% are non-traditional students who are changing careers. Enrollment for 2008 is projected to be approximately 150, 25% of whom originate from foreign countries. Since its inception, the College has had students from over 35 nations.
Clemens College Student Life
Although the majority of students live on campus, commuting is also an option for those with a home in the area. For resident students, amenities include a gymnasium, basketball courts and common rooms with casual furnishings and cable television. The College also offers a selection of exercise machines and sports equipment for basketball, volleyball, and soccer. A variety of outdoor recreational and sports activities are available locally, including swimming, boating, bicycling, hiking, and camping in the summer/fall; and skating, hockey, sledding, and skiing in the winter. Six Flags New England is located a quarter mile up the road. Students visit often and some work at the park.
