Founded in 1957, Island Drafting and Technical Institute (IDTI) provides a curriculum that produces well-trained and technically qualified graduates so that they may enter their chosen field or continue their education at the baccalaureate or higher level. IDTI is located in Amityville, New York, and offers several diploma and Associate of Occupational Studies degrees in the electronics and architectural computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) fields.

Island Drafting and Technical Institute has over 45 years of leadership and experience in training Long Islanders for successful careers. IDTI also offers continuing education to improve existing job skill to individuals, as well as to particular companies in the industry. IDTI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), and is authorized to confer associate's degrees by the New York State Board of Regents.

Areas of Study

Island Drafting and Technical Institute offers the following three Associate of Occupational Studies degrees: Architectural CADD Drafting, Electronic and Computer Service Technology, and Mechanical CADD Drafting. The following diploma programs are also offered: Architectural CADD Drafting, CADD, and Electronic Technology. In addition, a continuing education course is offered in AutoCAD for Professionals.

IDTI has a flexible class schedule with courses offered in the day and evening. Diploma programs can be completed in 15 months or less.

Island Drafting and Technical Institute does not offer open admission. Interested students should contact the school for an application. IDTI may require copies of high school records, and the school gives credit for life experience.
