Jacksonville University, also known as JU, is a private institution located in Florida, United States. It was established in 1934 as William J. Porter University. The college was renamed Jacksonville Junior College in 1935. It was renamed again in 1956 as Jacksonville University. It offers integrated learning programs, and more than 70 undergraduate degree courses. JU’s campus spreads across an area of 190 acres. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:
The athletics teams in Jacksonville University are nicknamed the Dolphins. Students participate in sports such as football, basketbal, and rowing. The university's sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
