Areas of Study
Kaplan's career education programs provide training for entry-level employment in some of the country's fastest-growing occupations. Actual programs vary by campus, but programs are available in disciplines related to the fields of allied health, business, criminal justice, information technology, legal, trades.
Areas of Study may vary by location. Additional academy training may be required for law enforcement positions. Certain positions may require additional training, licensing, or certification. Applicants to the Criminal Justice program in the state of Texas will require additional training approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) upon graduation in order to seek the following positions: police officer, peace officer, sheriff deputy, bailiff, and jailer. Paralegals are not lawyers and cannot practice law or give legal advice.
Admissions
Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact an Admissions Representative as the initial step in the admissions process. This can be done by either calling the school or requesting more information online. Once this has been done, the Admissions Representative can walk the applicant through a step-by-step process to:
Faculty
Kaplan's instructors are well-qualified to provide an inside look into some of today's hottest careers. The school's faculty members are required to have professional experience in their fields in order to be able to help students prepare for success in their chosen career field. Kaplan strives to enlist faculty and staff from diverse academic and professional backgrounds who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to its programs.
Student Body
Actual student body composition varies by campus. For example, enrollment at the ICM campus is over 1,000 students who are roughly evenly divided between men and women. Enrollment at the Harrisburg campus, however, is about half as large with a 70%/30% ratio of women to men.
Student Life
Student life is very much a function of which campus the student chooses. Albuquerque affords lots of recreational options as well as history and culture. The Detroit campus is conveniently located downtown near the intersection of two major highways. The Cleveland campus is conveniently located on a bus line offering easy access from all over the Cleveland area. The Harrisburg campus, located in Pennsylvania's capital city, is in an area replete with art and culture, sports and entertainment, and fine restaurants. The ICM Campus is located minutes away from the beautiful Monongahela River. And the Nashville campus is located in a city that was named one of the 15 best cities for work and family and one of the 25 cities that are likely to have the country's highest job growth over the coming five years by Fortune magazine.
