Overview of Keystone National High School
Founded in 1974 as the Learning and Evaluation Center, a pioneering organization that provided a credit make-up home education program for students who had failed a high school course of study, Keystone National High School has since evolved into a licensed institution providing a complete, flexible, full-credit high school curriculum to meet the needs of home education students. Keystone introduced its first online courses in 1999, and today offers students the opportunity to earn an accredited online high school diploma in preparation for college or a career. Students can enroll full time to earn a diploma or part time to transfer high school credits to their resident high school.
Points of Distinction
Areas of Study
Keystone offers courses from introductory, core, AP, and honors subjects, as well as dozens of high school electives. Each course is designed for multiple skill levels and courses are sequenced to allow advancement in a particular course of study. Courses can be completed online or via traditional correspondence. All courses include teacher support, a brand new textbook, and supporting materials.
Keystone National High School Admissions
Enrollment at Keystone is a simple 3-step process. First, the applicant needs to determine the program (diploma or transfer) and select courses. Next, tuition and payment method can be estimated. Third, complete the application forms online or by downloading and mailing.
Keystone National High School Faculty Quality
Unlike some high school home education programs, Keystone National High School offers unlimited one-on-one support from highly qualified, certified teachers. Keystone faculty members are certified teachers with an average of eight years of instructional experience. Almost half have earned masters or doctoral degrees in education or areas of instructional specialty. 100% of the school's instructors are "highly-qualified" as determined by the criteria established in the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
Keystone National High School Student Body
Keystone has worked with more than 200,000 students during its 30-year history. Its programs serve students in all 50 states and 70 countries, from Georgia to Alaska and from Belize to Thailand.
Keystone National High School Student Life
Although Keystone students study from a distance, they are afforded full support. The school has developed a suite of Student Support Services which are free to students enrolled in 3 or more Keystone courses. These include technical support 24/7 and teacher response within 24 hours via phone and email to answer questions about the curriculum; an Orientation Course which helps parents and students become familiar with the Keystone online learning environment and get a head start on courses; a Learning Coach to assist students; and a Parent Observer Account, where parents can continually follow their student's progress from any computer connected to the Internet by viewing student assignments, tracking how much work their student has completed, and viewing student grades.
