La Salle University

La Salle University is a private, co-educational, Roman Catholic university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The university is named after St. Jean-Baptiste de la Salle. It was founded in 1863 by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. La Salle offers degrees and programs in more than 50 academic areas. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • College of Professional
  • School of Arts and Sciences
  • School of Business
  • School of Nursing and Health Sciences

La Salle University sponsors more than 20 varsity sports teams, nicknamed the Explorers. They compete in the NCAA's Division I and are members of the Atlantic Ten Conference. The Explorers have won several championships, including the 1954 NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship and the 1980 AIAW Field Hockey Championship.
