Lake Erie College was established in 1856 as the Lake Erie Female Seminary. The college is located on a 60-acre campus in Painesville, Ohio. The 85-acre George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center is also owned by LEC.
Lake Erie College awards Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Bachelor of Science degrees. In addition, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Science in Education degrees are also available. Students can choose from over 30 majors in the fields of management studies, fine arts, education, languages and communication, science and math, equine studies, and social sciences.
The sports teams of Lake Erie College are nicknamed the Storm. They participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, football, lacrosse, tennis, track and field, soccer, softball, and volleyball. LEC is a member of the NCAA Division II.
