Lamar University, established on the September 17, 1923, is a 4-year university situated in Beaumont, Texas. The university was formerly known as the South Park Junior College. Lamar University has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students. It offers over 150 programs that lead to bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees.
The sports teams of the university are nicknamed the Cardinals, and they participate in women's baseball, volleyball, and soccer, and men's and women's tennis, cross country, golf and basketball. Jen Wyatt Canadian, LPGA golfer; Bum Phillips, former NFL coach; and Wayne Moore, retired NFL player, are the famous alumni of the university.
