Lehigh University

Lehigh University was founded in 1865 as a four-year technical school. The main campus of the university covers more than 1,500 acres in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The campus also includes around 150 well maintained buildings. Apart from its main campus, the university also runs the Mountaintop Campus and the Murray H. Goodman Campus. Lehigh University is organized into the following colleges:

  • College of Business and Economics
  • College of Education
  • P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science

Lehigh University competes in 25 different NCAA Division I sports. Its sports teams are known as The Mountain Hawks. As a part of NCAA’s Division I, the sports teams of the university mostly compete in the Patriot League.

Lehigh Selectivity

Admission at the school is selective, not open to all who apply. Getting into Lehigh is challenging; it only admitted 28% of those who applied in 2007-2008. Three quarters of students in 2007-2008 had SAT verbal scores of at least 590. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 640 and 720.

Faculty

Lehigh maintains a faculty/student ratio (full-time) which is better than most colleges. The school has a tenure system for senior faculty. The full-time faculty at Lehigh is well-paid, which often goes with faculty quality.
