Lewis & Clark College, also known as L & C, is an independent, private college of liberal arts located in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was established in 1867 as the Albany Collegiate Institute. It was renamed to Lewis & Clark College in 1942. The college's main campus spreads across an area of more than 130 acres. L & C is organized into the following academic divisions:
L & C’s athletics department fields both men’s and women’s sports teams. The athletes participate in various events and intercollegiate sports including baseball, cross country, football, golf, rowing, swimming, tennis, and track & field. Their sports teams are nicknamed the Pioneers.
Lewis & Clark is found in Portland, OR. Portland is a large city. The school is a private, not-for-profit institution. Students can earn degrees up to and including the Doctoral degree at Lewis & Clark.
The school is known for its programs in law, art studies, education and teaching, and therapy and counseling.
Admission to Lewis & Clark is not automatic; not everyone who applies gets in. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 590. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 570 and 680.

The College carries out this mission through undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences and postgraduate programs in the closely related professions of education, counseling, and law.
