Lipscomb University is a liberal arts university located in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. It was established in the year 1891 by David Lipscomb and James A. Harding. The university offers graduate and undergraduate degrees and programs through the following academic divisions:
Lipscomb University’s athletic department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. They participate in a wide variety of sports. The sports teams are nicknamed the Bisons. The university is a member of the NCAA Division I and competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Lipscomb is located in a large suburb, in Nashville, TN. The school is officially a Churches of Christ school. Lipscomb is a private, not-for-profit institution. Degree levels at the school top out at the Doctoral degree.
One of the good things about Lipscomb is its wide range of programs leading to degrees. The range of program offerings available from the school is especially impressive compared to its number of students. Students at Lipscomb often study business and management.
The admissions department at the school does not accept all those who apply. Most students' verbal SAT scores were in the range of 490 to 600 in 2007-2008. A quarter of students admitted in 2007-2008 scored 610 or higher on the math SAT.
The school's tenure system is geared toward rewarding and keeping the most valuable professors.
