Los Angeles Harbor College is one of two community colleges located between Wilmington and Harbor City, the heart of the Los Angeles harbor region. The college accommodates over 8,000 students per semester.

Like most community colleges in the state of California, it provides programs for students to eventually transfer to a four-year university. LAHC offers occupational training programs in business and office administration, electronics technology, computer technology and nursing. It also offers a program for international students.

Some of the notable alumni of the college are Douglas L. Barry, Los Angeles Fire Department Chief; James "The Rev" Sullivan, drummer for Avenged Sevenfold; Dennis Johnson, Former Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns basketball player; and Bob Lowery, Former Atlanta Falcons NFL football player.
