Louisiana State University at Alexandria, also known as LSUA, is a public, coeducational university located in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States. Its history dates back to 1959 when the Louisiana State Legislature permitted the foundation of a two-year, community college to serve citizens of central Louisiana. LSUA offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study.
LSUA’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. The sports teams are nicknamed the Generals. The teams participate in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The campus is home to several student clubs and organizations based on the varied interests of the students.
