Loyola Marymount University is a comprehensive co-educational private Roman Catholic Jesuit university, located in Los Angeles, California. LMU was created in 1973 by the union of Marymount College and Loyola University in Los Angeles.
LMU’s campus covers an area of 150 acres. It offers several programs and degrees through the following colleges and schools:
The athletic teams at Loyola Marymount are known as Lions. They participate in the West Coast Conference.

One of the good things about Loyola Marymount is its wide range of programs leading to degrees. Students at the school often study media, law, and drama and performing arts.
The admissions department at Loyola Marymount does not accept all those who apply. Most students' verbal SAT scores were in the range of 520 to 620 in 2007. A quarter of students admitted in 2007 scored 640 or higher on the math SAT.
The school's tenure system is geared toward rewarding and keeping the most valuable professors. By paying its faculty better than most schools, the school tries to attract and retain a high quality teaching staff.
Loyola Marymount offers classes to 8,977 students (8,289 full-time equivalent).
The school serves primarily full-time students. Many students live in housing on or near campus. Students sports include formal participation in West Coast Conference competitions.
