Maine Maritime Academy

The Maine Maritime Academy was officially created on March 21, 1941. This nautical training institute and public, postsecondary college is located on a 35-acre campus in Castine, Maine. It was placed on the list of the nation's top baccalaureate colleges by the U.S. News & World Report in 2009.

The Maine Maritime Academy offers more than 15 undergraduate and graduate majors. Students can choose from associate's, bachelor's, and master's degree programs in subjects like small craft design, small vessel operations, marine engineering operations, marine systems engineering, global supply chain management, and international business and maritime management. These programs are offered through the following academic divisions of MMA:

  • Corning School of Ocean Studies
  • Loeb-Sullivan School of International Business & Logistics
  • Thompson School of Marine Transportation

The athletics teams of the Maine Maritime Academy are known as the Mariners. MMA is a member of the North Atlantic Conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division III, and the New England Football Conference. Its teams participate in sports like basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
