Mississippi Valley State University, also known as MVSU, is located in Itta Bena, Mississippi, United States. It was founded in the year 1950 by the Mississippi Legislature. Formerly, the university was known as Mississippi Vocational College. It gained university status in 1974. The university offers students academic majors in accounting, business administration, journalism, information science, and sociology. The degree-granting school and colleges of MVSU are:

The male students of MVSU participate in sports such as basketball, baseball, football, tennis, cross country, golf, and track and field. The women of MVSU participate in basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, bowling, track and field, cross country, tennis, and golf.
