Morehead State University is a public university established in 1887. It was initially founded as the Morehead Normal School, but having gradually broadened its mission over the years, it was renamed the Morehead State University in 1968. The college enrolls over 7,000 undergraduates and more than 1,000 postgraduates every year. There are over 70 degree programs on the 2-year, 4-year and graduate levels. Classes are held in 4 colleges:
Morehead State University sponsors more than 15 intercollegiate sports for men and women. The athletics teams are known as the Eagles, with official colors of blue and gold. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, rifling, tennis and track, while the women’s teams play basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and volleyball.
Morehead State is in Morehead, Kentucky. Morehead is a self-contained town. The school is a public institution. Morehead State issues awards (degrees) up to the level of Post-Master's certificate.
