Mountain State University, MSU, is a private, non profit, non sectarian, four year university in Beckley, West Virginia. The college was founded in 1933 as the Beckley College and was given its' present name in 2001. Students are offered programs at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree levels in areas like technology, humanities, and science. The schools of the university are as follows:

MSU is a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and participates in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The nickname for the athletics teams is the Cougars. Students participate in basketball, cheerleading, track & field, volleyball, and soccer. There are also many clubs and organizations including the Criminal Justice Honor Society (Delta Delta Epsilon), Student Radiologic Technologist Association, Student in Free Enterprise, and the Student Social Work Organization.
