Mountain State University, MSU, is a private, non profit, non sectarian, four year university in Beckley, West Virginia. The college was founded in 1933 as the Beckley College and was given its' present name in 2001. MSU is a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and participates in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The nickname for the athletics teams is the Cougars.
