Mt. Hood Community College was opened in 1966 as a public community college. The campus is spread over 212 acres of land, and the college enrolls more than 25,000 students every year. There are a wide variety of academic programs in arts, science, nursing, fine arts, funeral science, and automotive technology. The college also offers distance learning courses and other general education programs.

The sports teams for Mt. Hood Community College are called the Saints. There are intercollegiate, intramural, and scholarship teams for baseball, basketball, cross-country, softball, track and field, and volleyball.
