Overview of National Career Education

National Career Education (NCE) is a California post-secondary vocational school offering professional career training programs in medical, nursing, and allied health fields. Located in Citrus Heights, a suburb of the state capital of Sacramento, NCE is noted for its small class sizes, short and affordable programs, and hands-on training. NCE is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and is a branch campus of the Institute for Business & Technology in Santa Clara, California.

Areas of Study

NCE offers professional career training programs leading to diplomas in the following health care fields:

  • Lab Assistant, EKG Technician/Phlebotomist
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Biller/Coder/Office Assistant
  • Optical/Optometric Assistant

Programs can be completed in as little as 6 months. All programs include an externship at an approved site upon completion of the required coursework. The externship provides the student with an actual work environment in which to apply skills learned in the classroom.

National Career Education Admissions

Prospective students should first contact the school, after which they will work closely with an admissions representative to identify the most appropriate program, learn more about the school, and schedule a personal tour of the campus. NCE offers "Ability to Benefit" opportunities to potential adult students who don’t have a high school diploma or GED.

National Career Education Faculty Quality

NCE has an experienced faculty whose members provide a friendly, supportive learning environment for their students. Instructors combine educational credentials with real-world experience and give students plenty of personalized attention.

NCE has a student body of about 400 students. Approximately two-thirds of the student population is female.

National Career Education Student Life

NCE's location in Citrus Heights is accessible from all major highways and thoroughfares. The campus consists of a 16,900 square-foot modern facility with well-lighted parking areas. In order to accommodate its students, who are all commuters, the school provides parking for student cars, bicycles, and motorbikes. NCE also provides assistance to those students interested in sharing in a car pool or seeking transportation.
