National Holistic Institute

Overview

The National Holistic Institute (NHI) is a career education school focused on providing training in massage therapy. Founded in Oakland, California in 1979, NHI now has seven campuses located throughout the state of California. Locations include Emeryville, Petaluma, Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco, Santa Ana (Orange County), and Studio City (Los Angeles). The school's core program is 900 hours in length. Students will be trained in both Western and Eastern massage techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy, sports, foot reflexology, hot stone, Shiatsu, Thai and energy massage. Students will qualify to take the national certification exam upon completion.

National Holistic Institute is nationally accredited by Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET).

Faculty

Faculty members at the National Holistic Institute are leaders in their field and well-respected throughout the massage therapy industry. Instructors come from diverse backgrounds and bring years of practical industry experience to the classroom. The school recognizes that everybody learns differently and employs a number of different teaching methods to help students learn in a way that suits their needs.

Student Life

The National Holistic Institute is a commuter school and does not offer on-campus housing facilities. The school features two major programs: the 900-hour core program and the advanced 450-hour neuromuscular therapy training program. The core program is designed to provide training to students who have yet to pass their national certification exam. The advanced program is a continuing education program for those who are already practicing massage therapy. Students are able to hone their skills on real clients through the school's student-run public clinics. Financial aid and lifetime career assistance are also available.
