Northeast Iowa Community College was originally known as Northeast Iowa Technical Institute. The college operates two main campuses in Calmar and Peosta. NICC enrolls more than 4,500 students annually. The campus at Calmar offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. NICC awards Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science degrees.

NICC Calmer's students participate in a wide variety of clubs and organizations, including Business Professionals of America, National Student Nurses Association, NICC Student Nurses Association and Rodeo Club.
