Northeastern University is a private university in Boston, Massachusetts. The university is known as NEU or NU, and was established in 1898. The university is popular for its co-op (Cooperative education) program. NEU is set on approximately 67 acres of land. It offers undergraduate majors in more than 60 departments. Northeastern University’s sports teams are known as the name of Huskies. The university mascot is Paws, and its colors are black and red.

Admission to Northeastern is not automatic; not everyone who applies gets in. Hats off to the 39% of those who apply who get accepted. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 570. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 600 and 680. Many applicants are from out of state, an indication of the quality or special character of the school.
