Northern State University, also known as NSU, is situated in Aberdeen, South Dakota, United States. It was founded in the year 1901 and known as the Northern Normal and Industrial School. The university offers a wide range of degree programs through the following academic divisions:
Northern State University's athletic teams are known as the Wolves. The athletics department fields men's teams in basketball, baseball, track and field, cross country, golf, football, and wrestling, and women's teams in cross country, basketball, soccer, golf, swimming, track and field, softball, tennis, and volleyball.
The main campus of Northern State is in Aberdeen, SD (a self-contained town). The school is a public school. Northern State offers degrees up to the Master's degree.
The school offers a wide array of programs of study, compared to other schools of its size. Northern State students most commonly major in a field related to education and teaching and computer science and engineering.
