Nova Southeastern University is a renowned coeducational university located in Davie, Florida. It is a private, non-profit organization. The university offers business, counseling, computer and information sciences, education, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, healthcare, and various other professional degrees. Nova Southeastern University has more than 30,000 students. The university also offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The NSU Department of Athletics offers more than 15 intercollegiate athletic programs and has won more than 70 national championships since 1975. The athletics teams, known as the Sharks, participate in sports like basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis, track and volleyball.
The school students most commonly major in a field related to medicine and education and teaching.
Nova Southeastern does not accept everyone who applies. In 2007-2008, 45% of people who applied to the school were accepted. In 2007-2008, SAT verbal scores of half of students were 460 to 550. Three-fourths of students accepted in 2007-2008 had SAT math scores of 450 or more.
The school offers tenure to reward and retain some professors. Salaries for full-time faculty at Nova Southeastern are higher than most, allowing the school to afford quality teaching.
