Overview of Oregon Culinary Institute
Located in the midst of Portland Oregon's vibrant restaurant scene is the Oregon Culinary Institute (OCI). Relatively new to Portland, the Institute is owned and operated by Pioneer Pacific College, which has been a regional leader in career education since 1981. OCI was founded on the principle that a culinary arts education can be structured to be complete, practical, and affordable. The Institute offers a fully accredited Culinary Arts diploma program which teaches students the skills they will need for successful careers in the culinary world.

OCI offers a Culinary Arts Diploma Program, an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts, and a Baking and Pastry Certificate Program. The 34-week Culinary Arts Program is built around a focused, practical curriculum that systematically takes students through the essentials of working in a commercial kitchen. The first 34 weeks of the Associate of Applied Science Program are the same as the diploma program, with an additional 30 weeks spent taking Business and General Education courses. The Baking and Pastry Certificate Program emphasizes safety, sanitation, the understanding of weights and measures, baking methods, ingredients, and the development of basic skills. Programs include a 360-hour on-the-job externship in a professional off-campus establishment.
