Parkland College was established in 1966 as a community college. There are more than 10,000 credit and noncredit students enrolled in the various community classes and workshops, career and transfer programs, and online courses offered by the college. Over 100 associate degrees, transfer, and certificate programs of study are available at Parkland.

The Parkland Theatre and Planetarium are two impressive structures in Parkland College. The college also has the famous Parkland Art Gallery which was founded in 1981. The exhibitions and educational programs of this gallery are open to the public at no charge.

Parkland College’s athletic teams are called the Cobras. They participate in sports like baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, softball and volleyball.
