Reed College was established in 1908 as an independent, private college of liberal arts. The college has a residential campus covering an area of approximately 116 acres, and is situated in Southeast Portland, Oregon.
Reed College, most popular for its program in humanities, offers more than 20 majors from which to choose. This is the only private, undergraduate college which has a nuclear reactor to support its science programs. Reed College has the following five academic divisions:
Students of Reed College participate in a variety of sports including rafting, sailing, hiking, soccer, rugby, kayaking, skiing, tennis, and juggling. The college also sponsors clubs and organizations such as the the Student Senate.
