Rend Lake College was officially established in 1955 as the Mt. Vernon Community College. It is located on the north shore of Rend Lake. RLC offers a wide variety of degree programs and occupational certificates to its students.
RLC has an active student life. The campus is home to a wide variety of clubs and organizations, including Active College Christians, Society of Success and Leadership, Phi Theta Kappa and Warrior Booster Club. RLC's athletic teams are known as the Warriors.
