Renton Technical College or RTC was established in 1942, as a war production school. The college was known to provide customized pre-employment training and job upgrading-retraining programs throughout the duration of World War II.

Renton Technical College awards degrees in more than 35 preparatory programs, apprenticeship and various occupational degree programs. It also provides certificates in over 80 programs. The college enrolls more than 15,000 students every term.

The RTC campus consists of more than 8 buildings, spread across an area of 400,000 square feet. It has also acquired numerous off-campus facilities through which it provides training in the growing industries of health, service and information technology.
