Rice University is a private research university located in Houston, Texas. It was established in 1912 as The William Marsh Rice Institute for the Advancement of Letters, Science and Art. The campus is spread across an area of 285 acres. The university offers more than 35 undergraduate degree programs, over 50 masters programs and over 25 doctoral programs. It is organized into the following academic divisions:

Rice competes in the NCAA Division I and is part of Conference USA and the Western Athletic Conference. Its sports teams are nicknamed the Rice Owls.
