Rio Hondo College, or RHC, is a community college established in 1960. It is located in Southeast Los Angeles County. The college awards degrees in more than 40 disciplines, and certificates in more than 25 subjects. RHC educational programs prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. It confers two-year degrees in a number of specialties, and issues certificates in technical and professional fields.
RHC enrolls more than 20,000 students each semester and it provides on-campus, online, and off-campus courses to all of its students. The college is also home to Rio Hondo Fire Academy and Rio Hondo Police Academy. The campus has free Wi-Fi facilities that are available to all students. ‘El Paisano’ is the official newspaper of the college.
RHC’s official mascot is the Roadrunner, and their sports teams are nicknamed the ‘Roadrunners’.
