Overview of Schiller International University
Founded in 1964 in Southern Germany as Schiller College, Schiller International University (SIU) began as a traditional American Study Abroad program with English as the language of instruction. American students were given the opportunity to experience life and studies in Europe for one or two semesters, or for the duration of an entire degree program. In the '60s and '70s, SIU expanded rapidly adding campuses in Heidelberg and in Berlin, Paris, Strasbourg, Madrid and London. By the mid-1980s, the school had transitioned to an international university and in 1991, a campus opened on U.S. soil (in Dunedin, Florida) and was developed into the university’s main campus by 1995. In 2006, the Florida campus moved to a new location in Largo, Florida. SIU has also developed a robust online program, which offers an array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a variety of fields.
