Overview of Scot Lewis Schools

Scot Lewis Schools have been training future cosmetologists in the state of Minnesota since 1958. Located on four Minnesota campuses (in St. Paul, Plymouth, Bloomington, and Eden Prairie), the Schools are part of Empire Education Group and its 70-year legacy of outstanding cosmetology education. Programs at Scot Lewis include formal training in salon management and reception, communication skills, and sales techniques, in addition to the program's subject matter. Scot Lewis schools are NACCAS-accredited and are licensed to operate in the state of Minnesota.

Areas of Study

Scot Lewis schools offer three programs of study: Cosmetology, Nail Technology, and Esthetics. The Cosmetology program is a 1500-hour program which is offered at all four campuses. It teaches basic, contemporary and advanced principle techniques in haircutting, hair coloring and hair designing for men, women and children. Nail Technology is a 350-hour program offered only at the Bloomington campus. The Esthetician program requires 1000 hours of study and is also offered only at the Bloomington campus.

Scot Lewis Schools Admissions

A school application is available online or the school can be contacted via a toll-free number. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to be admitted. Also required is a high school diploma or GED equivalent. For all programs except Esthetics, a passing grade on an Ability to Benefit Assessment Test may be substituted for the high school diploma/GED requirement.

Scot Lewis Schools Faculty Quality

Faculty qualifications include a well-rounded proficiency in cosmetology, esthetics or nail artistry. Instructors are highly trained and must also be licensed in their field.

Scot Lewis Schools Student Body

Enrollment across all four Minnesota campuses exceeds 500 students. About 80% of them are enrolled full-time. A very large preponderance of the student body is female.

Scot Lewis Schools Student Life

Each of the four campuses is fully equipped with modern salon furniture and state-of-the-art cosmetology tools. Students commute to classes and are accommodated by ample free parking at all four campus sites.
