South Arkansas College Community or as the college logo says, SouthArk, is a public, two-year, community college, in El Dorado, Arkansas. The College was established in 1992 through a merger between the Oil Belt Technical College and the El Dorado branch of Southern Arkansas University. The Original Oil Belt Technical College is called the East Campus and the original Southern Arkansas University is called the West Campus. The college now has more than 1300 students.
The most popular courses in SouthArk are nutrition, exercise therapy and production trades. The other courses offered by the college include health and natural sciences, liberal arts, business trade and industry and adult education.
Writer’s Ink, Between the Lines and South Arkansas Historical Journal are the three college-sponsored publications. SouthArk is affiliated with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education as well as the Arkansas Association of Two-year colleges.
