Southern Nazarene University, commonly referred to as SNU or So-Naz, is located in Bethany, Oklahoma. Initially, the Texas Holiness University was founded in 1899. It disbanded in 1910 and became the Nazarene institution called the Peniel College. It merged with the Oklahoma Nazarene College in 1920 and became the Bethany-Peniel College. Following some more mergers and name changes, the institute was finally established as the Southern Nazarene University in 1986. It is now a Christian liberal arts university. SNU's recent enrollments have been more than 1,500 students.

SNU offers undergraduate degrees in over 70 fields, and several associate’s and graduate degree programs. The university is divided into the following academic divisions:

  • School of Business
  • School of Education
  • School of Music
  • School of Nursing
  • School of Theology & Ministry

The sports teams of SNU are nicknamed the Crimson Storm. They participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball. The teams are members of the Sooner Athletic Conference, and Region VI of the NAIA Division I.
